The economy continues to evolve to require a more skilled workforce. At the same time education and training systems struggle to keep pace and the most economically vulnerable young people fall further behind. New collaborative approaches are needed, particularly in low-income communities, to prepare young people for jobs in industries that are growing – and are growing quality, middle skilled jobs. As the Pathways to Prosperity report points out, “any efforts to construct a more effective pathway to prosperity will require a sea change in the role of businesses and other employers.”
