Have you ever reached an impasse with colleagues, grantees, a family member or a person on the street? Have you sought a solution that was more satisfying, effective and empowering, but felt unable to take the next step? Using curiosity to understand the needs of others can be the first step towards the best possible response.  Participants (limited to 30) will learn how to navigate challenging conversations by transforming critical communication barriers into opportunities for clarity, collaboration and action.

Join us in an interactive session with Dian Killian, the founder, director and lead trainer of the Center for Collaborative Communication.  She will introduce key strategies to help participants slow down the conversation when in the midst of conflict and focus on shared values. Come prepared to take part in small group exercises and develop concrete strategies readily applied to a variety of scenarios.

Prior to attending this session, participants are asked to think about a conflict they have recently had that was not fully resolved to their satisfaction.  Please note that the room set-up for this program calls for a large circle of chairs with no tables.  Pens and small notepads will be provided.

  • New concepts and models to apply in conflict scenarios
