Compelling, shareable content is key to engaging and motivating peer funders, nonprofit partners, and other stakeholders. Foundation staff have access to rich data, innovative ideas, and compelling stories. But it is easy to get comfortable with academic or technical language and philanthropic jargon. This workshop will help you build your skills to craft an engaging, accessible, and persuasive writing piece - such as an op-ed or blog post - that will motivate a target audience to action.
Join us for an in-person workshop to cover practical tips for crafting a compelling piece of writing. It will foster a sense of possibility, excitement and confidence around the value and opportunity of writing for external audiences. By the end of the workshop, you will be ready to write your own piece.
What will you learn?
- How to identify your audience and the actions you want them to take
- How to capture interest and attention
- How to craft compelling recommendations and a call to action
- How to source and deploy engaging data, visuals, and case studies
Who should attend?
All interested members, especially in grantmaking roles who write, or would like to write, for external audiences as part of accessing their power and voice to influence the field. What to expect: workshop.
