Miller became President in 2011 at F.B. Heron, a foundation with a long history of Program and Mission Related Investing and a mission of helping people and communities help themselves out of poverty. Having been founder and CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund for 26 years she was uniquely qualified to combine creative financial investing with the imperative to make substantial and lasting change for families at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder.
Our series interlocutor is the penetrating and perspicacious Daren Walker, Ford Foundation Vice President for Education, Creativity and Free Expression. Clara and Darren will discuss not only the innovative approaches F.B. Heron plans for the future as a leader in mission related investing, but also how her background, values and philosophy inform her plans.
We will leave ample time for audience discussion; an informal wine-and-cheese reception will follow the formal program.
- What Clara Miller and the foundation’s trustees envision as the most urgent challenges and opportunities facing our sector and the world
- How the foundation’s Mission Related Investing (MRI) focused approach helps them have greater an a more dynamic impact on the urgent and large problem of poor families
